Why cover your heat pump in winter

A heat pump left uncovered can accumulate snow and ice in the evaporator and fan. The winter cover protects these components and makes it easier to restart the unit in spring.

Important: Install the cover only after the heat pump has been winterized and powered off. Never cover a unit while it is running, and leave the sides clear to allow ventilation.
