1½" male threaded PVC plug

The 1½" male threaded (MPT/MIPT) PVC plug is used to seal any 1½" female threaded fitting in a pool or spa plumbing system. Molded from rigid Schedule 40 PVC, it is resistant to system pressure, pool treatment chemicals, and UV rays.

Common applications

• Winterization: plugging inlets and returns, the skimmer, the main drain, or jets after blowing out the lines.
• Closing an unused outlet on a manifold, pump, filter, or heater.
• Pressure testing lines during leak detection or a new installation.
• Temporary repair of a fitting while waiting for a replacement part.

Installation

Apply Teflon tape or thread sealant paste to the male threads, then hand-tighten until snug and turn an additional one to two turns. Do not overtighten: excessive torque can crack the female PVC fitting.
