Ball Bearing (Bearing) SKF – 6202-2RSH/C3 and 6203-2RSH/C3
Description
SKF sealed ball bearing for pool pump, spa and filtration system motors. Genuine SKF chrome steel construction, with rubber seals on both sides (2RSH) and increased internal clearance (C3) — the exact combination required by a pump motor.
Why a C3 bearing instead of a standard bearing
A pool pump motor runs for hours a day and heats up. The shaft expands and tightens around the bearing. A standard clearance bearing eventually heats up, roars, and then fails. The increased internal clearance of the C3 absorbs this expansion and keeps the bearing free and quiet when hot. This is why almost all pump motor manufacturers specify C3.
The 2RSH seals block moisture, dust, and water splashes — the normal conditions of a pump room — and retain the grease for life: no lubrication required.
Two sizes available
| Part number | Inner diam. | Outer diam. | Thickness |
|---|---|---|---|
| SKF 6202-2RSH/C3 | 15 mm (19/32") | 35 mm (1-3/8") | 11 mm (7/16") |
| SKF 6203-2RSH/C3 | 17 mm (11/16') | 40 mm (1-9/16") | 12 mm (15/32") |
The 6202 is generally mounted on the front side (impeller side) and the 6203 on the rear side (fan side), but always check the part numbers stamped on your original bearings before ordering. The inch fractions are for reference only: these bearings are metric and are not interchangeable with imperial bearings.
Technical specifications
- Brand: SKF (single-row deep groove ball bearing)
- Sealing: double-sided rubber seals (2RSH)
- Internal clearance: C3 (increased)
- Cage: stamped steel — chrome steel rings and balls
- Lubrication: lifetime grease, maintenance-free
- Dynamic load: approx. 8 kN (≈ 1,800 lb) for the 6202 / 9.95 kN (≈ 2,240 lb) for the 6203
- Static load: approx. 3.75 kN (≈ 840 lb) for the 6202 / 4.75 kN (≈ 1,070 lb) for the 6203
- Weight: 46 g (1.6 oz) for the 6202 / 65 g (2.3 oz) for the 6203
Signs you need to replace your bearings
Roaring, whistling, or squealing on startup, unusual vibrations in the pump housing, an abnormally hot motor, or a shaft that is hard to turn by hand with the motor disconnected. A worn bearing that is not replaced will eventually damage the shaft and the stator.
Installation tip
Always replace the two bearings at the same time. They have aged together: replacing only the noisy one means you'll be back to square one in a few months. Also plan to replace the mechanical seal while the motor is disassembled.
Compatibility
Suitable for pool and spa pump motors equipped with 6202 or 6203 bearings, including A.O. Smith / Century / Regal Beloit, Emerson, Leroy Somer and Mercadal motors, as well as Hayward, Pentair, Jacuzzi, Kripsol, ACIS and ESPA pumps. Confirm the part number stamped on your existing bearing.
